Hormone regulation with the help of acupuncture and functional medicine
Our periods have so much to tell us, and for centuries Chinese Medicine has understood the period and menstrual cycle to be reflected in whole body health. We consider the length of the cycle, the color of menstrual blood, amount of flow, mood changes and the nature of period pain to give us insight into hormone health and overall wellness. Western medicine now recognizes this too, declaring the menstrual cycle a vital sign and placing it alongside other key indicators of health like blood pressure and temperature.

It’s time to reframe our conversation around hormones and period health.
In our culture, we tend to accept that period pain and PMS are just part of life and that the birth control pill is the only solution. But your cycle is important – it’s your body communicating information. You deserve to feel good in your body, and taking the time to understand what your hormones are really saying and care for the whole person can make all the difference. You shouldn’t have to dread your period or rearrange your life around it.
From puberty to menopause, acupuncture offers a natural way to support reproductive health by regulating periods, balancing hormones, improving insulin sensitivity, and reducing stress. Acupuncture is particularly helpful for painful periods, heavy bleeding, endometriosis, long or short cycles, PCOS, missing periods, fibroids, cysts, and PMS symptoms like menstrual migraines, breast tenderness, bloating and more.
Chinese Medicine has long considered three months to be the minimum amount of time needed to regulate the menstrual cycle and address hormonal health. In my practice, a three-month foundation also gives us time to integrate multiple therapies to get you feeling better faster. In addition to acupuncture and herbs, we can bring in functional medicine principles like liver detox and microbiome support as well as cycle tracking tools and lab testing when needed.
Schedule a New Patient Cycle/Hormone Health Visit ($225) online or text our clinic to make an appointment. Teens and young adults 25 and under receive 20% off the initial visit.
We will recommend a treatment plan at your initial visit after a thorough evaluation. A typical treatment plan includes weekly treatments for the first month and then every 2-3 weeks for the rest of the three-month foundation.
